Importance of roof maintenance
A roofing system is usually a pretty big investment for homeowners. I mean, think about it, your roof literally protects every investment you have ever made in your home. So, how can you keep your roof as new as possible for as long as possible? By maintaining it. For so long there has been this idea that once you have a new roof installed you don't need to do anything else on it for 20-30 years and as long as you have a warranty from the manufacturer you have peace of mind. While part of that is true there is also the question, what happens when something outside of the manufacturer's warranty leaks like the chimney flashing, pipe vents, skylights, louver vents and bathroom exhaust vents? What happens when normal wear and tear items installed on every roof like caulking/sealant wear out? Your roof is no different than anything else you use every day (i.e car, lawnmower, snowblower, etc). If you want to continue to use these things every day, you're going to have to have some maintenance done on them.
For this reason, we started up a program called RoofMD. It's a program designed to truly give homeowners (whether their roof is new or not) peace of mind when it comes to their roof. Homeowners will no longer have to wonder if their roof is still in good condition after a major storm or a really bad winter. For the price of less than a cup of coffee a day you can have your roof maintained for a year!
